Roles for the AI-native era.
We train a small number of students for the roles that build and scale businesses with AI. Not the biggest teams or the most postings: the roles where technology, business and AI meet, and one person owns a result a business can see.
The entry rung is splitting.
Hiring in India is steady but more selective. One side of the first job is shrinking and repricing. The other pays a premium for people who can specify, build, verify and own a result. We train for the second side.
forward-deployed engineers Infosys plans to build, to put AI to work inside client businesses. Its leadership says pay will reflect AI skills.
of new roles at India’s global capability centres need AI, data or automation skills. Their 0–3-year band grows fastest, at 18% a year.
of the 591 openings in our study (37%) were open to candidates with zero to one year of experience. The entry door exists, for the right profile.
The same IT-services firms that pay ₹3.4–4.5 lakh to a mass-tier fresher now pay a premium tier several times that to a fresher who can build with AI. The gap is the opportunity, and another coding course does not close it.
How we did the research
Hiring evidence first, then a test against the future. Where we infer, we say so. This research guides what we teach; it is not a forecast we can promise, and it changes when the evidence does.
650+ postings in India collected in October 2026 across 70+ entry roles, with the skills and tools each asks for.
Fifteen role families broken into the tasks a junior does in the first two years, and what AI can already do of each.
Each family tested against slow, middle and fast AI adoption in five independent studies, with signposts for which future is unfolding.
Key facts re-checked against primary sources. Anything we could not find at source is left off this page.
A role goes on this page only if it passes four tests.
Roles that fail the second test but pass the rest, such as AI evaluation, analytics engineering and software engineering, become skills we teach, not lanes we sell.
It sits at the intersection
It needs at least two of technology, business and AI, with AI as the lever rather than the subject.
It owns an outcome
Accountable for revenue, cost, a customer result or a product decision. A queue or a report is not an outcome.
It has a premium path
Market evidence of a route from entry to ₹10 lakh-plus within three to five years, reachable from a Tier-2 or Tier-3 college.
It lasts to 2031
In five independent studies of entry roles to 2031, it is growing or transforming, not shrinking.
What you will own, and where it leads.
Day-one roles are ones employers already hire for at zero to one year. Destinations are where each lane leads in three to five years. Software is the foundation of every lane, not the target.

Your own venture: an outcome, not a placement.
Every student starts a venture in Year 1 with a small seed and is graded on process, not revenue. Ventures that survive get Demo Day, an incubator route and investor access. Founders are counted separately and never as jobs.
If a role can be described as a queue, we are not training you for it.
We are training you for the role that supervises the queue, redesigns it, or sells what comes out of it. Each role on the left is on the declining list in all five studies to 2031.
| Shrinking entry role | Where that hiring moves instead |
|---|---|
| Outbound prospecting (SDR, BDR, BDE) | GTM engineering and consultative selling |
| Tier-1 support and CX associate | Agent supervision, escalation and implementation |
| Volume and SEO content writing | Content operations with evaluation |
| MIS and reporting | Analytics engineering |
| Data entry and catalogue operations | Exception handling and quality ownership |
| Manual or scripted test execution | Test automation and evaluation engineering |
| Mass-tier junior coding in IT services | Premium tiers and forward-deployed pools |
| Junior desk research | Analysis with verification and client judgement |
Every lane on this page sits in the right-hand column.
Skills that will still be worth something in 2031.
Five independent studies asked which entry-level skills survive to 2031 whatever happens to the tools. These eight were on every list; three more were on four of five. Tools change every year, so we teach them as examples.
Verification and evaluation design
The more the AI does, the more your job is deciding whether it did it right. You build the test that decides.
Every studio; Agent Lab evaluationsSpecification and decomposition
Agents execute specs. Someone has to turn a vague need into a precise task.
Maker studios; product requirements; capstoneSQL, data modelling and metric definitions
Every decision role runs on a metric someone defined.
Data and SQL studioAPIs, integration, auth and debugging
Implementation is integration. Nothing ships without it.
Product studio; Agent LabOne industry’s domain knowledge
The same automation is worth far more to someone who knows the sector’s rules.
Sector studios, from Year 2Client handling and discovery
Four of the six lanes face a client from day one.
Customer interviews; paid SME sprintAccountability for an outcome
Owning a metric, an incident or a client result is the job, so ownership is graded.
Venture P&L; client sprintsClear writing for decisions
The output of judgement is a document someone else can act on.
Writing for WorkProgramming and debugging, without AI
You cannot verify what you cannot read. Named in four of five studies.
Programming with AI; no-AI checkpointsProcess mapping and workflow redesign
Automation starts with the process, not the tool. Named in four of five studies.
SME sprintRegulation and data protection
DPDP, RBI, IRDAI and SEBI decide what AI may do in the sectors that pay. Named in four of five studies.
AI ethics, policy and DPI studioAcross 59 researched roles and 591 openings. We teach prompting inside building and evaluation, not as a course.
Twelve competencies an employer can see.
Every studio grades you twice: once with every AI tool you can find, on whether the thing works; once with none, on whether you can explain it, fix it and defend it. How assessment works
| Competency | What an employer sees in a first-round exercise | Tested |
|---|---|---|
| Process discovery | Documents how a customer really works, including the workaround nobody mentions. Says which process is worth automating and which is not. | Without AI |
| Automation and agent design | Builds a multi-step workflow that handles its own failures, with a human checkpoint wherever a wrong answer costs money. | Both |
| Verification of AI output | Spots the invented company, the confidently wrong field, the workflow that runs but produces the wrong answer. | With AI |
| Integration and debugging | Connects two systems end to end and diagnoses why they stopped talking, without documentation. | Both |
| Question framing and analytical honesty | Turns a vague complaint into an answerable question. States what the data cannot support. | Without AI |
| Commercial framing | Explains what a built thing is worth in rupees, not hours saved. Writes success criteria that are measurable and time-bound. | Without AI |
| Discovery and technical translation | Asks the questions that change the shape of the solution. Explains a constraint to a business buyer without jargon and without spin. | Without AI |
| Ownership under ambiguity | Takes an undefined problem and returns with it solved. Decides what not to do when everything is urgent. | Both |
| Composure | Handles the cutover-day problem or the hostile objection mid-demo without escalating panic. | Without AI |
| Written readout | A finding and a recommendation on one page a busy founder can act on in a minute. | Without AI |
| Shipping under constraint | Delivers something usable in a day rather than a perfect thing in a month. | With AI |
| Teaching a user | Trains a non-technical user to complete the task unaided afterwards. | Without AI |
The intersection pays most inside one sector.
You choose yours by Year 2 (B.Tech) or Semester 2 (MBA and BBA). Adoption pace is our reading of how fast Indian employers in each sector are moving AI from pilots into daily work.
| Industry | AI adoption in India | Entry roles being created | Our depth today |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banking, financial services and fintech | Fast | Credit and risk analysis with AI underwriting; KYC exception analysis; AI governance and model risk | Sector studio. The most fresher evidence. |
| Healthcare and life sciences | Base, regulation-gated | Healthcare AI implementation and operations; revenue-cycle AI quality; pharmacovigilance operations | Sector studio. Clinical-AI capability centres opening. |
| IT services and capability centres | Fast | Implementation engineering; forward-deployed pools; customer engineering; analytics engineering | Employer type across lanes A, B and C. |
| SaaS and startups | Fast | GTM engineering; implementation; product analysis; founder’s office | Employer type across all lanes. |
| Retail, e-commerce, quick commerce, D2C, FMCG | Base | Category; supply chain; marketplace exception handling | Partial. Lower entry pay; strong destinations. |
| Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 | Slow to base | Industry 4.0 analysis; procurement; operations | Partial. Strongest where tied to a plant. |
| Education and EdTech | Base | AI product in EdTech; learning operations | Partial. Our own domain. |
| Professional services and consulting | Fast | AI transformation analysis; strategy | A destination rather than an entry point. |
| Telecom, energy, infrastructure, public sector | Slow | Few named entry roles yet | Watching. |
Market data, not a promise.
In the lanes on this page, roles at three to five years in metro and capability-centre markets commonly post ₹10–20 lakh a year. Day-one entry in the same lanes posts ₹4–12 lakh, with premium tiers above ₹10 lakh for candidates who can show shipped work.
No InfyAI cohort has graduated. These are third-party figures with their sources and dates. We will publish our own outcomes, with the method and the unplaced count, when a cohort has them.
